A sequence of medieval buildings leading to the church which is still standing in Freiburg, Germany to this day. Interestingly, the whole street level was raised about 2.5 meters between phases 1 and 2, probably to create elevation for the artificial water courses running through the middle of the roads. That meant the ground floors of the earliest buildings became the cellars of the larger houses. The reconstruction is based on excavations carried out within the church when it was converted into a museum.
